My name is Kevin Alves if you haven't figured that out by now. I am an amateur photographer living in the beautiful City by the Bay, San Francisco California. I love taking pictures. I think that is because I get to show you, the viewer, what the world looks like through my eyes. I have been told I have a great eye for taking pictures, so that's where the site name, gr8eye.com, came from.

I have never taken a photography class, the pictures come from my point of view. It could be because I have collected postcards since I was a teenager. That gave me the perspective needed to take some great photos. To me, it's easy. I don't have to think about it. It's sort of like the pictures call out to me and tell me how to frame it. It's lots of fun and exciting to see how they turn out when I get home.

Some of my favorite subjects are architecture and city scapes. I like to take the picture with no phone lines, no cars, no people, and other distractions. The subject is the buildings or windows and that is evident in the finished product. If you haven't already, look at my San Francisco or Boston Gallery for some examples of my city photography.

Another of my favorites (and everyone else too!) is flowers. I am happy to live in a city where flowers bloom year round. It was my mother who got me started on flowers. She said she wanted to see some pictures of something nice like flowers. So it begins. I have taken probably thousands of pictures of flowers. In my Flowers Gallery there are only a few hundred of them for your viewing pleasure. Mom was right, flowers are rather nice aren't they?

In case you were wondering, I use a SONY CyberShot (Dsc-F707) digital camera. It's an older model I picked up on eBay at a very good price. I love all the features it has. There's settings to control the aperture and shutter speed. There is various color balancing tools. This camera is so amazing it can take pictures in total darkness and make it look like daylight! My camera, however, is showing signs of heavy use. I will one day get an upgraded model, probably on eBay as well.

Speaking of eBay, at the moment I am selling lots of postcards on the site. I have had some success because I sell my cards pretty cheap compared to other sellers. My user name is bluedecker97.
